We passed 32 weeks on Saturday and – whew – we seem to have gotten back to steady waiting, which is preferred because our scheduled departure is still a month away.
Cross your fingers, hang a horseshoe, wish on a shooting star, or rub a leprechaun. Whichever your fancy, let us hope that we can remain on schedule for a few more weeks.
I was asked by friends of ours to sing the mass for their children’s baptism in early October and although they are expecting over 300 guests, we would really like to be here to stand with them. They have been foster parents to their children for several, often painstaking, years as they have waited for the process to permit permanent adoption.
We are very happy for their arrival at this important milestone and hope we can celebrate with them before we too become a new family, forever.
In the meantime, our twins surrogate continues treatment for her gestational diabetes but we have been told it is under control.
And, this morning we received the latest scan of our singleton. S/he is now measuring nearly 4 ½ pounds and continues to be developing a few days ahead of schedule. I can't wait to meet her (yes, I said it!) when there's a little more chub to squeeze.
Unfortunately, the scan pictures are again amorphous and look as if we’re nearly ready to birth a meat loaf.
I miss the earlier 4-D scans that looked like actual human beings!!! When scan day arrives and we receive mishapped pictures of circles and blur, it feels a bit as if the kids are off at summer camp and sent a postcard back to dear old Dads with only a few non pertinent scribbles! I am looking forward to seeing those squished up little baby faces.
The only issue of note on this latest test is a note that the ‘liquor is less.’
If I had a nickel for every time I looked into cupboard and thought that!
Liquor amnii is of course the amniotic fluid and I do not believe we have any reason for concern at this point. But, we will keep watching to see if there any changes in the weeks ahead. According to this site, oligohydramnios is diagnosed when the AFI (Amniotic Fluid Index) is less than 5 cm. We measured 6. So, for now, we won't worry about this.
Tonight, we are taking a baby CPR class at our hospital. More soon!
